Artist's Comments

Generally one can rarely observe ants as motives in artwork of
any kind, and if,they are mostly used as symbols for personal or collective insectophobia.
This one,i hope, has turned out as cute as possible,
with the most respect for these creatures.
I remember,when I was a child,I could spend hours with
observing ant colonies.

silver and coral

edit : Many thanks for the DD and all Your enthusiastic
comments - I feel honoured.
Due to some requests - Yes,I would do similar rings
as commission work - one ring needs at least two or
three days to finish - if You are interested, please contact me via note

ant ring by ~morpho2012. The suggester said of this silver and coral ring, "I love this ring, it's so creative and different. Also, ants are surprisingly cute in silver, when they aren't crawling on my kitchen floor." (Suggested by =j-alex-darr and Featured by `Kitten-of-Woe)

Thank You !

The "cuteness factor" of this ant is meant a bit humorous,
as i normally don´t regard ants as exactly cute -
more very interesting in their social behavior and of a delicate beauty.
and I even had experiences with ants that were any other thing than cute.

Beautiful! Did you cast it?
:iconmorpho2012:
Thank You !

No,the body is ?carved(don´t know the appropriate english verb
for this kind of work) from a cylindrical piece of silver
with rotating bits, the legs/ring parts are cut out by sawing,
then all soldered together.
casting would be another option, especially for serial work

Cool, thanks for explaining, I didn't know you could do that to metal!
I'm slowly getting into silver work, but strugle a bit cos I learn as I go along. Your work is great, and I admire your decision to take it up full time. I hope to do that too one day...

Completely original and totally beautiful. Man it's good to see you back. :D

Thank You,also for faving !

It´s my first one,it was a bit experimental,
and I didn´t know if it will really turn out well,
particularily the leg construction.

Now I love it and wear it all the day.
:iconchibibutterfly:
if i had one i'd also wear it all day.
The design is just perfect.
